How to find the Institute of Cartography and Geoinformation

Please note that the Institute is situated at ETH Hönggerberg, NOT at the ETH Zentrum!

By car to ETH Hönggerberg

Leave the National Highway A1 (Zurich-North bypass) at the Regensdorf/ZH-Affoltern exit and take the road to Zurich downtown. At the second traffic light ("ETH" is marked on the sign) turn right (uphill). On the top of the hill, follow the sign to the ETH Hönggerberg entrance. Enter the HIG garage, entrance directly under the bridge (Parking level A or B). For the ETH parking a fee is required. Short-term permits may be purchased from permit dispensers (more information about ETH parking permits).

Leave the garage by the door on the rear side, take the spiral staircase and cross the court with the fountains. Enter the brown building HIL. If you get lost, look for the post office in the main entrance hall of the building HIL. Next to the post office entrance, take the elevator to floor "G". On the left, you will find the secretary‘s office G25.1.

From the airport Zurich-Kloten to ETH Hönggerberg

At the airport, take a train to Oerlikon station. Take bus Nr. 80 to Triemli, get off at ETH Hönggerberg (travel time approximately 10 minutes).

From Zurich main station (Zürich HB) to ETH Hönggerberg

At the main station you cross the main hall, pass below a large blue angel (a piece of art which is hanging from the ceiling), leave the building and cross the street to the tram station (Bahnhofquai).

Take tram Nr. 11 (direction "Auzelg") until "Bucheggplatz". From there take bus Nr. 69, direction "ETH Hönggerberg". At Hönggerberg, enter the brown HIL building by the main entrance. Next to the post office in the main entrance hall, take the elevator to floor "G". You will find the secretary's office G25.1 on the left side.

Note: If you arrive from the airport by train at Zurich Main Station or Oerlikon station, you do not need an additional tram/bus ticket if you have a train ticket for zone 10. It is also valid to your final destination within Zurich. Infos at VBZ.
